Fatuma I. Hussein
Managing Partner
Fatuma has expertise in commercial transactions and data privacy policy having worked Kenya and in the United States. She is interested in data privacy, ethics in the digital space, truth-in-advertising policies and the development of the digital policy in Africa and around the world. Fatuma regularly advises investors who are keen on investing not only in Africa but globally and foreign companies that conduct business in Kenya, as well as Kenyan corporations that conduct business abroad. She was part of a team that put together the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Policy’s AI and Democratic Values 2023 Report, one of the most highly respected reports in AI that journals the laws and legal developments happening all around the world in the field of artificial intelligence.
● Conducted thorough due diligence on borrowers and collateral including titles in connection with commercial loans for leading micro-finance company in Africa worth $634M.
● Led drafting, negotiating, and closing of housing program with 800 units involving over 10+ nationalities worth $20M as buyer representative.
● Monitored & assessed state and federal laws, the fecundity of industry self-regulation initiatives & internationally recognized data privacy certifications such as APEC Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) in the protection of children’s privacy online with Professor Angela Campbell of Georgetown Law’s Institute for Public Representation.
